From Big Visions to Strong Value Chains

Emerging New CO2 Industries

What if CO2 wasn’t a problem, but a resource?
In Skive, we are testing how the air can be cleaned and carbon stored in the soil using nature’s own methods.

CO2 as a Resource in the Green Industries of the Future

CO2 is one of our biggest climate challenges – but also a potential resource. To limit global warming and reach climate neutrality, we need to both drastically reduce emissions and develop solutions that can permanently remove and store carbon. By 2050 at the latest, CO2 emissions must be negative, which is why new fossil-free industries and carbon storage methods are being developed worldwide.

At Klimafonden Skive, we work to turn this challenge into local opportunities. In this field, we focus on building the foundation for new, emerging CO2 industries where technology, nature, and business meet. Our ambition is to ensure that local communities and businesses benefit as much as possible from this development, while the solutions contribute directly to climate goals.

Our approach is based on nature’s own processes and practical testing. By combining CO2 use and storage with research, measurement technologies, and new business models, we work to create solutions that are climate-effective, economically sustainable, and scalable both across Denmark and internationally.

How We Work

CO2 facilities, technologies, and infrastructure
We support the establishment and further development of facilities that capture and mineralize CO2 from local businesses, and explore new technologies such as Direct Air Capture.

Value chains and partnerships
We build connections between technology providers, companies, investors, and CO2 users, so that use and storage become a real foundation for local business development.

Experiences, learning, and outreach
Together with local and regional partners, we create a permanent visitor and learning hub where CO2 mineralization, geology, and the green transition are made tangible and accessible for citizens, schools, and visitors.

Regulation and dialogue with authorities
We work closely with authorities to identify barriers, clarify permits, and develop frameworks that pave the way for new CO2 solutions – both locally and nationally.
